Notes from the Chamonix valley

The spring-like conditions ended this weekend with rain and snow continuing almost all yesterday and most of today. During a non-skiing day, whilst walking around Servoz, I saw this wonderful painted door.

Today I visited the Brevent ski area. There was about 20cm of fresh snow but visibility was not great at first

but improved a good deal

Saturday and Sunday were lovely days. On Saturday I went to Grands Montets and took my first trip up to the very top where there were magnificent views.

I had a run down the off-piste route Combe des Rachasses where there was plenty of unskied powder snow.

Sunday we were at Le Tour. It was sunny all day but cool and quiet considering it was the weekend; very pleasant. However, the off-piste down to Vallorcine on the Les Jeurs sector was truly terrible, frozen hard and rutted.
